Samsung announced the Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G on March 25, 2026 — both going on sale in the US on April 9. The A57 starts at $549.99 and the A37 at $449.99, each $50 more than their predecessors. They share the same battery, the same charging speed, and the same software — so the real question is whether that $100 difference between them buys you anything worth paying for.

What’s new

Quick overview — what’s new in both phones

Both launch with Android 16 and One UI 8.5, and Samsung has committed to six OS upgrades — software support through at least Android 22. That’s a genuinely strong commitment for mid-range phones and one of the best reasons to choose Samsung over competitors at this price.

New in both phones

  • Android 16 with One UI 8.5 out of the box
  • Six generations of OS upgrades guaranteed
  • 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging
  • Translucent “Ambient Island” camera module design
  • Circle to Search with Google — draw a circle around anything on your screen and Google searches it instantly, with multi-object recognition
  • Improved Nightography and AI scene optimization
  • Knox Vault — Samsung’s dedicated security chip that stores passwords, biometric data, and encryption keys separately from the main processor
  • IP67 water resistance — splash and rain resistant up to 1 meter for 30 minutes
  • Gorilla Glass Victus+ — scratch and drop-resistant glass on front and back

Gone in both phones

  • microSD card slot — removed and not coming back
  • Wireless charging — not included on either model
  • Both are $50 more than their 2025 predecessors

Why OIS matters more than the spec sheet suggests

Without OIS, video shot while walking comes out noticeably shaky — following a customer through a store, filming a dish coming out of the kitchen, recording a product demo for social media. With OIS, that same shot is smooth enough to post without editing. If you use video for your business or post regularly to social media, this is the one spec worth paying for. If you mostly shoot static photos, you’ll barely notice the difference.

Three things actually separate the A57 from the A37 in daily use: optical image stabilization on the main camera, the faster chip with better cooling for heavy use, and the option for 12GB RAM. If any of those matter to you, the extra $100 makes sense. If they don’t, you’re paying for a slimmer phone and a slightly shinier screen.

$449.99

Galaxy A37 5G — who it’s for

What you still get

  • Same 6.7″ 120Hz AMOLED display and 5,000mAh battery
  • Same 45W fast charging
  • Same 50MP + 12MP + 5MP camera system
  • Same Gorilla Glass Victus+ and IP67 water resistance
  • Same six OS upgrades and Knox Vault security
  • Advanced Portrait AI — new, was A56-exclusive before
  • Four color options vs one for the A57
  • $100 less than the A57

What you’re missing

  • No OIS on main camera — shakier handheld video
  • Slower Exynos 1480 chip
  • 8GB RAM only — no 12GB option
  • No Auto Trim or Best Face AI features
  • Thicker and heavier than the A57

The A37 is the right phone for anyone who wants a dependable Samsung without paying $100 for improvements they won’t feel on a normal day. The display is virtually the same, the battery and charging are identical, the camera output will be similar in good light, and the software experience is exactly the same. If you’re not shooting a lot of handheld video and you don’t push your phone hard, saving $100 is the smarter move.

The decision

Samsung Galaxy A57 5G vs A37 5G — which one should you buy?

Buy the A57 5G if…

You shoot a lot of handheld video and want steadier footage, you use your phone heavily all day and want the performance headroom of a faster chip and better cooling, or you’re keeping this phone for 4–5 years and want the best version at this tier. The 12GB RAM option is also worth considering if you keep a lot of apps running at once.

Buy the A37 5G if… (recommended for most people)

You want a great mid-range Samsung with the same battery, display size, software experience, and long-term support as the A57 — for $100 less. The A37 is the better value for anyone who uses their phone for everyday tasks: calls, social media, photos in good light, streaming, and messaging. Save the $100 and put it toward a case and a screen protector.

Consider last year’s A56 or A36 if the price increase bothers you

Both new models are $50 more than their 2025 predecessors with relatively modest improvements. Where to buy

Availability and where to buy

Both phones go on sale in the US on April 9, 2026.

Galaxy A57 5G — $549.99

Available in Awesome Navy as an unlocked device at Samsung.com and Samsung Experience Stores.

Galaxy A37 5G — $449.99

For most buyers, the A37 wins. The $100 difference between the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G buys more in your pocket than it does on the spec sheet. The A57 is worth it specifically if you use video seriously — otherwise the A37 delivers the same software experience, the same battery life, and the same long-term support for less.
